The Managing Director/Guide
Debbie King became the managing director of the Green Houses in October 2013. She has over 25 years of experience working in a medical care capacity beginning as a certified medical assistant in various clinical settings and then as a medical transcriptionist/editor working remotely in order to raise her children at home. Debbie and her husband, Matt, have been married for 25 years and have called the Chattahoochee Valley home for over 20 years. Their two children, Tara and Michael, are now grown and Debbie feels blessed to have the opportunity to once again work outside the home in a job that honors her passion for person-centered care. The Green House model of elder care lends itself perfectly to Debbie’s desire to put the needs of the elder first and provide them a secure, loving home environment that respects their need for dignity and choice. Debbie is currently continuing her education and is pursuing her degree in Healthcare Administration and hopes to eventually get her master’s degree in Healthcare Management. In her free time, Debbie enjoys spending as much time as she can with her 10-year-old grandson, Seth, relaxing in the mountains, and reading a good book.
Dakita Brown comes to the Green Houses from Pittsview, Alabama. She graduated from Wallace Community College in 2010 as an LPN. Dakita joined the Green House team in October 2015 and really enjoys the model/concept of care. She loves the idea of forming this house into a home for our elders. In addition to working with elders in long term care for the past four years, Dakita also cared for her loving grandmother. Outside of work, Dakita is a mother to two girls and a wife to her husband Craig. She loves family activities, taking trips, watching movies, shopping, etc. Dakita looks forward to continuing to care for the elders at the Green House and being a part of their lives.
